How to Sync iTunes Music to Android
This wikiHow teaches you how to synchronize your computer's iTunes music with an Android phone or tablet. You can do this by signing into the Google Play Music website and uploading your iTunes library, or you can use an app called iSyncr. Both options are free, though you will have to download iSyncr if you don't already have it on your Android.
Using Google Play Music Manager
Open iTunes.Double-click the iTunes app icon, which resembles a white circle with a multicolored musical note on it.
Click .It's either in the upper-left corner of the iTunes window (Windows) or in the top-left corner of the screen (Mac). A drop-down menu will appear.
SelectLibrary.This option is in theFiledrop-down menu. You'll see a pop-out window appear to the right of the drop-down menu.
ClickOrganize Library….It's near the top of the pop-out menu. A window will open.
Check the "Consolidate Files" box.This option makes copies of every song in your iTunes library and stores them all in the same folder (named "iTunes Media"). This ensures that your entire library is backed up to one easy-to-move folder.
Click .It's at the bottom of the window. Your music will begin copying.
- This process can take quite a while (up to 10 seconds per song).
Open Google Chrome.You have to use the Google Chrome browser to synchronize Google Play Music with iTunes.
Open the Google Play Music page.Go to . This will open your Google Play Music account if you're logged in on your current browser.
- If you aren't logged in yet, clickSIGN INat the bottom of the page, then enter your email address and password.
Click .It's in the upper-left corner of the page. A pop-out menu will appear on the left side of the page.
ClickSettings.This option is near the bottom of the pop-out menu. You'll see the Settings window appear.
Scroll down and clickADD YOUR MUSIC.It's an orange button near the bottom of the page.
Check the "Select folders…" box.This option allows you to upload your own folders to Google Play Music.
- If prompted to install the Google Play Music app, first clickINSTALL, then clickAdd appon the pop-up window.
Make sure that the "Keep Google Play up to date" box is checked.Doing so ensures that your music library will update when you're connected to the Internet.
ClickSELECT FOLDERS.It's at the bottom of the page.
ClickADD A FOLDER.This button is at the bottom of the page. Doing so will open a File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) window.
Select the iTunes Media folder.Go to theMusicfolder in the window, open theiTunesfolder, find theiTunes Mediafolder, and click it.
- If this doesn't work for you, you can also click and drag the iTunes Media folder into the Chrome window and drop it there.
Click or .It's in the bottom-right corner of the window.
ClickADD MY MUSIC.It's at the bottom of the page. This will prompt your music folder to begin uploading to Google Play Music.
- If you clicked and dragged the music folder into the window, skip this step.
Wait for the upload to complete.Once your music finishes uploading, you'll be able to open the Google Play Music app on your Android to listen to your iTunes music.
- Music added to the iTunes Media folder at a later date will automatically synchronize with Google Play Music if you're connected to the Internet.
Download iSyncr onto your Android.You can download it for free from the Google Play Store. To do so:
- Open the Google Play Store
- Tap thesearch bar.
- Typeisyncrinto the search bar.
- TapiSyncrbelow the search bar.
Open the iSyncr webpage on a computer.Go to .
ClickDownload.It's a blue button below the "Desktop" heading. This will download the iSyncr setup file onto your computer.
Install iSyncr on your computer.Double-click the iSyncr setup file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Attach your Android to your computer.Use the charging cable that came with your Android to do so.
- If you receive a prompt on your Android after connecting it to your computer, tap theMTPoption.
Open iSyncr on your computer.Click the "S"-shaped iSyncr icon in the lower-right side of the screen (Windows) or the upper-right side of the screen (Mac), then click your Android's name.
- On Windows, you may have to click^here to see the iSyncr icon.
- Make sure your Android phone is unlocked.
Select a storage location if prompted.Click eitherInternalorSDif given the choice.
Select music to transfer.Click the box to the left of each item that you want to synchronize with your Android (e.g.,PlaylistsorLibrary).
Click .It's at the bottom of the screen. Doing so will begin adding your iTunes music to your Android's storage. Once the synchronization is complete, you'll be able to detach your Android and play the music using your phone's built-in music player.
- You can update the iTunes music on your Android at any time by reattaching it to your computer, opening iSyncr, and clickingSync.
